Having rfecently got sky plus I was about to look into sky anytime on my lap top but having read comments am now reluctant to try it. I am not a very proficient user of computers and therefor worried about slowing down my laptop and being then unable to uninstall.
I also live in a village which is not very well served by broadband, 2meg at the very best, and wondered if it will take forever to download anything.

Any comments will be gratefully received

It's the secrecy and the method of implementation that are annoying. I have no problem with running a file-sharing application if that's a condition of the service. But, it doesn't need to run the whole time - that's just for Sky's benefit. It's easy to stop khost from starting with msconfig; you can make it permanent later if you want by removing the registry run entry. Then substitute a simple batch file for the Anytime icon on your desktop, call it Sky.bat or whatever:
net start "kservice"
cd C:\Program Files\Sky\Sky Anytime\
SkyAnytime.exe
net stop "kservice"
That way kservice only runs when you're browsing the choices and actually downloading from it.
