Write then

Blogging Challenge: Embracing Daily Writing Practice After Years

I’ve had this domain, and a blog on it for an awfully long time. In fact, I’ve just checked, the first post is from 18 years ago this month, a few months before my second daughter was born.

I wrote a lot more back then. I guess with the advent of social media and being a dad, working in London… I just got out of the habit.

Getting back in the saddle

A little over a year ago I was listening to Mac Break Weekly on TWiT as usual and Andy Ihnatko recommended the Journalling app Day One. This was after Apple had announced Journal at WWDC, but before that app had been released.
I decided to give it a go. Since then, I have written a journal entry every day, I currently have a 443 day streak. I’m enjoying having somewhere to consistently dump my thoughts on what’s happened during the day and getting the practice stringing words together in a non-work context. It also means that post far fewer things to the likes of Facebook, which I see as a massive benefit.

So now that I’m back in the habit of writing I’ve decided to challenge myself to write here more regularly than once every four years!
